I had such fun making this art for a dear friend's nursery, and the best part was that it came together so quickly! After hearing, and seeing how she planned to decorate the room, I rushed home and raided my paper stash to select the papers that seemed to go best with what my memory could recollect. A couple of hours later, the result was this beauty.
I'd seen
this post on using the repetition of shapes to make really interesting art and loved the concept, especially since it seemed like something I could easily adapt and make my own. The idea had been stuck in my brain for awhile, so the opportunity to make a little art for a shower gift seemed like the perfect time to try it out.
The frame is an 8x8 Making Memories shadow box that I've been saving for just the right project, and it was perfect for this art. Once I decided that the background would be a creamy warm grey, I selected papers that were shades of blue, green and white to go with it and pop off the page. I then used my Cricut to cut the heart shapes out. I laid everything out on the paper, including the letter stickers (which I only lightly applied to the paper). Next, I lightly glued each heart on the crease of the center fold to tack it in place. After I had tacked all of the hearts, I adjusted the letter stickers and pressed them down firmly. Finally, I using my sewing machine to add some texture and permanently adhere the heart shapes. Once sewn down, I folded the hearts up so that they came off of the page a bit more. You can see this a little better from the side view.

Some of the papers are Martha Stewart and the others are from the Making Memories Vintage Finds collection. The puffy stickers are American Crafts Thickers. Most of my craft supplies have been collected (a.ka. hoarded) for several years now, so I'm not sure what is still available and what is not.
Such a fun little piece to warm up a space. I just might have to make another one for me!
